History

Cason Monk-Metcalf has been serving the people of Nacogdoches and its surrounding communities since 1893.

Our humble beginnings

Like many historical funeral homes, Cason Monk and Co. had its beginnings as part of the hardware and furniture business in downtown Nacogdoches. In 1946, Cason Monk and Co. acquired Branch-Patton Funeral Home and moved its North Street location to Branch-Patton location on Mound Street.

In 1933, Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home opened a location in downtown Nacogdoches. This funeral home, located for many years on the corner of Mound and Hospital Streets, was operated by Curtis Metcalf and M.S. "Skinny" Garrison and families.

Oakley-Metcalf relocated to our current location at 5400 North Street with the construction of a state-of-the-art funeral home. This welcoming space opened in 1984.

Mergers and growth

Oakley-Metcalf later acquired Cason Monk and Co. With this merger, these historical funeral homes combined their years of experience and reputations to form Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. The Cason Monk and Co. location on Mound Street was closed with all operations streamlined from 5400 North Street location. Today, Cason Monk-Metcalf continues to serve the families of East Texas with the highest of standards in the profession.
